Two amazing months on the tropical island of Koh Tao, Thailand training from beginner through to expert diver. Explore shipwrecks, coral reefs and deep-sea pinnacles becoming part of the Simple Life dive crew and meeting people from across the globe.
PADI Divemaster – the first pro rating in the PADI system, is arguably the most enjoyable position in the scuba diving industry. Here on Koh Tao, Divemasters guide divers on underwater tours of the reefs and pinnacles, coordinating dive trip logistics and assuming a leadership role as professional divers.
Our two month program packages together everything you need to train from beginner to PADI Divemaster; all PADI diving courses, course materials and fees, rental of all scuba gear (with option to buy) plus two months accommodation.
Join the adventure of a lifetime. You’ll progress through PADI courses in sequence, logging many dives and becoming part of the Simple Life crew. You’ll explore coral reefs, pinnacles and shipwrecks around Koh Tao, getting real hands on experience and having an amazing time along the way.
Let’s look in detail at what’s involved:
The internship follows PADI’s diver education program.
Training proceeds in gradual steps where our team of experienced western instructors will ensure you are comfortable and competent at each stage.
These are the key steps:
First we’ll teach the basics of scuba diving involving diving theory, shallow water skills and four open water dives exploring coral reefs around Koh Tao. You’ll be certified to dive to 18M anywhere worldwide and develop a foundation for everything to come.

Next we make 5 more training dives diversifying into specialized areas of diving. This includes a deep dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters, underwater navigation dive and three more optional dives which can include night diving, photography, buoyancy control, search and recovery dives, wreck diving and more.

Training steps up a gear during the combined EFR & Rescue Diver program.
First comes one day of CPRand First aid training before heading out to the water. During the Rescue Diver course you’ll learn to manage and prevent scuba diving emergencies, both at the surface and underwater. You’ll practice in-water rescue techniques and management procedures, which will then be put to the test responding to simulated scenarios. Lot’s of fun!

Now the transition to dive professional; you’ll develop expert level diving theory, assist student divers in training and learn to guide certified divers on underwater tours. You’ll be challenged with watermanship and problem solving exercises, map an unfamiliar dive site, conduct a scuba review for a out of practice diver plus get involved in the day-to-day operations of the dive school. You’ll take on real responsibility, becoming part of the Simple Life dive crew.

Between these PADI courses and during the Divemaster phase, we encourage you to fit in some non-training ‘fun-dives’.
You’ll pair up with another intern or Divemaster to explore the Koh Tao dive sites, enjoying the underwater terrain and aquatic life. This is the best way to fine tune your navigation skills and familiarize yourself with the Koh Tao’s dive sites.
Rental of all dive equipment is included. Our shop rental gear is all professional quality equipment from leading manufacturers (Aqualung, Scubapro etc), properly maintained our fully certified, western technician.
If you have some spare cash, there’s the option to purchase some or all of your own equipment at reduced rates.
The packages also includes all required PADI materials and certification fees, with no hidden extras. You’ll receive your own copies of:
We also include two months accommodation.
You’ll get your own private room with double bed, tv, fridge and en-suite western bathroom with hot water shower.
For long term stays we use a nearby guest-house within close walking distance of the dive shop, used by dive professionals and long term interns (same as you), so is safe, secure and nice socially.
You can also try technical diving for free with our ‘Experience Tec’ session.
Technical diving extends beyond the limits of normal recreational scuba, diving deeper and longer. Tech diving opens up the possibility to access deep dives sites beyond the reach of most divers.
Tech diving is extreme & requires specialized training, procedures and equipment configurations; for example using multiple cylinders containing mixed gas blends and performing decompression stops during ascent.
The ‘Experience Tec’ session gives you the chance try on a technical diving rig in a sheltered environment; twin-set (two cylinders on your back), wing, harness and stage cylinders, practicing tec diving skills and drills.
(If you enjoy the intro and wish to continue, we offer a full range of technical diving courses).
If you are already a certified diver, let us know and we’ll be able to give you full credit. We can put together a customized package saving you some money.
Submit the following form and we’ll send you all the details.
Qualifying as a PADI Divemaster opens a range of exciting options.
You can put your new PADI Divemaster rating to use by seeking employment within the dive industry. Or you could further your training through to PADI Instructor, which enables you to teach new divers. Otherwise you can diversify into specialized diving activities such as photography or videography, technical diving or marine conservation.
If you do decide to continue your training, you can simply pay the difference to upgrade to one of our longer dive internship programs. (So there’s no disadvantage in starting out with the two month Koh Tao Divemaster program).
We run our dive internships as a rolling program, so you can arrive whichever date you prefer. All we need is some notice to get everything lined up ready for your arrival.
Complete the following form to let us know when you are thinking of arriving. If you have any questions you can add them in the space provided.
