Alongside her core Divemaster training here at Simple Life, Baylee from the USA has also started contributing to our marine conservation efforts too.
Over the coming weeks Baylee will be going through a series of lectures and workshops, learning about coral reef ecology. Topics we’ll be covering are wide ranging including introducing the phylogenetic tree, hard vs soft corals and identifying corals by growth form.
We’ll then move onto discussing coral reef restoration techniques. What are coral nurseries, harvesting coral planulae, micro fragmentation and mineral accretion technology.
This all culminates in making a real contribution to reef restoration and preservation here in Koh Tao.
More updates to follow in the coming weeks.
