Simple Life Divers’ Equipment Technician Course teaches you how your gear works—and how to keep it in top condition. You’ll learn essential maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair skills across all key equipment, including BCDs, regulators, masks, fins, and more.
At Simple Life Divers, we go beyond the PADI syllabus. This isn’t just theory—you’ll get real, practical, hands-on experience working with professional tools and equipment.
Who should take the Equipment Technician Course?
To join, you need to be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver (or higher).
This course is ideal if:
- You own (or plan to own) your own scuba gear and want to protect your investment
- You want to avoid missing dives due to simple, preventable equipment issues
- You’re training toward PADI Divemaster or Instructor and want to strengthen your professional skillset

Who runs the course at Simple Life Divers?
Your instructor is Baden Ramm, an in-house scuba technician with a rare combination of engineering expertise and real-world dive experience.
Baden began his career as a heavy equipment engineer in Australia’s mining industry before transitioning into scuba diving over 15 years ago. Today, he is both a seasoned PADI Instructor and a highly experienced equipment technician.
He has extensive experience servicing equipment across all major brands.

What you’ll learn
This course goes far beyond basic theory. You’ll work directly with real equipment and tools.
BCD Maintenance
- Proper care and storage
- Inflator troubleshooting and fixes
- Tank band removal and replacement
- Basic patching techniques
Regulator Maintenance
- First stage care and inspection
- Second stage cleaning and adjustment
- Disassembly, inspection, cleaning and full service of aqualung first and second stages and submersible pressure gauge
- Disassembly and operation of powerline 2 low pressure inflator
- Mouthpiece replacement
- Hose replacement
- O-ring inspection and replacement
- Low-pressure inflator hose troubleshooting
Compressor
- Bauer air compressor operation and maintenance
- Learn how to fill scuba cylinders
Masks & Fins
- Mask preparation techniques
- Strap replacement (mask & fins)
The course includes all the service manuals for Aqualung Calypso Regulators, Powerline 2 lpi and compressor manuals for you to keep.
